WOUTER HENDRICKX

Since graduating from Studio Herman Teirlinck in 1997, Wouter Hendrickx has built an acclaimed career across film, television and theatre, establishing himself as one of Belgium’s most versatile and compelling character actors.

Hendrickx first gained widespread recognition for his award-winning performance in The Misfortunates (2009), directed by Felix Van Groeningen, earning the Ensor Award for Best Supporting Actor. He later received a further Ensor nomination for his moving portrayal of a cystic fibrosis patient in Oxygen (2010, dir. Hans Van Nuffel), confirming his reputation for bringing emotional depth and authenticity to complex roles.

His extensive screen work spans acclaimed Belgian and international productions, including The Twelve (2023, Netflix), Hidden Assets ( RTÉ), Undercover (2021, Netflix), Alter Ego (2023, A Team Productions), Blackout (2020, dir. Joël Vanhoebrouck), Bergman Island (2021, dir. Mia Hansen-Løve), Storm Lara (2021) and the award-winning short film Pedro (2023, dir. Aline Boyen), for which he received multiple Best Actor nominations and won Best Actor at the Brussels Short Film Festival.

Known for his transformative performances and nuanced portrayals of psychologically layered characters, Hendrickx has collaborated with many of Belgium’s leading filmmakers while increasingly expanding his international profile. Fluent in Dutch, English and French, with working knowledge of German, Yiddish and Spanish, he continues to work across European productions in both film and television.
