Besir Zeciri

Besir Zeciri is a Danish actor born in Copenhagen, and with Albanian heritage. He represents a new wave of diversity in Scandinavian cinema. Having once considered a career in the police force, Zeciri had his attentions diverted when joining a theatre company in 2009. From there his career has blossomed, most recently culminating in a starring role in Magnus von Horn’s ‘THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE‘, which premiered at Cannes and was selected as Denmark’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars.

At last year’s Berlinale, Zeciri was honored as one of the European Film Promotion’s Shooting Stars, highlighting his status as one of Europe’s most promising actors. Besir was recently awarded the lead actor of the year award at the prestigious Robert Awards for his role in ‘The Girl with the Needle’.

Zeciri will next be seen in Charlotte Sieling’s film ‘WAY HOME‘ opposite Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Prior to that he starred in the Danish series ‘OUTLAW‘ where his performance as ‘Mo’ earned him a Robert Award (The Danish Film Academy) for Best Actor in a Leading Television Role.  He also starred in the Independent Feature ‘WILDLAND‘ opposite Sidse Babett Knudsen and was nominated for a Bodil award for his work in the film.  Zeciri can currently be seen starring in the latest season of ‘DARKNESS: THOSE WHO KILL‘ which is now out on BBC Iplayer.
